The film tries to tell seven stories. They are the seven stories of the founding ceremony, the atomic bomb project, the women's Volleyball Championship, the return of Hong Kong, the opening of the Beijing Olympic Games, the return of Shenzhou 5 and the Anti Japanese Memorial parade.

The plot is exciting and twists and turns. What impresses me most is the story starring actor Huang Bo - "the night before yesterday". He plays Lin Zhiyuan, the person in charge of the electric flag raising project at the founding ceremony, but on the eve of the founding ceremony, he still can't guarantee the success of the project, and Tiananmen Square is completely blocked.
