小英的故事 篇1

a pigeon(鸽子)

a pigeon, oppressed by excessive thirst, saw a goblet of water painted on a signboard. not supposing it to be only a picture, she flew towards it with a loud whir and unwittingly dashed against the signboard, jarring herself terribly. having broken her wings by the blow, she fell to the ground, and was caught by one of the bystanders.

moral:zeal should not outrun discretion.

一只鸽子口渴得很难受,看见画板上画着一只水杯。她并不以为那只是一幅画,而是发出一声响亮的呼噜声,朝画飞去,无意中撞在了招牌上,把自己撞得很不稳。她的翅膀被风吹断了,摔在地上,被一个旁观者抓住。

寓意:热情不应超过谨慎。

Hans was an ordinary little man who worked for his master for seven years.

汉斯是一个平凡的小伙计,他为主人干了7年活。

一天,汉斯对主人说:“主人,我得回家看望母亲了,请把这7年的工钱付给我。”

The master gave him a big piece of gold. Hans happily started his way.

主人给了他一大块金子。汉斯高兴地上路了。

But as he walked and walked, the gold felt very heavy.

他走啊走啊,感觉身上的金子越来越重。

Just then, he saw a horseman riding his horse on the road. Hans wanted to ride the horse.

就在这时,他看到路上有个骑马的人。汉斯很想骑马。

Hans immediately exchanged the gold for the horse.

A shepherd with a cow stopped the horse.

牧民说:“如果你把你的马给我,我就把我的奶牛给你。”

Hans immediately exchanged the horse for the cow.

汉斯立即用马换了奶牛。

“噢!我多么幸运啊!太开心了!”

Just like this, Hans exchanged the cow for a pig, and the pig for a goose.

就这样,汉斯用奶牛换了猪,又用猪换了鹅。

When Hans was carrying the goose on the road, he spotted a grinder singing.

当汉斯抱着鹅走在路上时,他看到一个磨刀师傅在唱歌。

磨刀师傅说:“你想像我一样快乐吗?如果你用鹅换这块磨石,你将成为一个富有的人,成为一个快乐的人!”

At last, Hans exchanged his goose for a grindstone.

后,汉斯用鹅换了磨石。

“噢!我多么幸运啊!太开心了!”

After a little while, he accidentally dropped the grindstone into a well.

没过一会儿,他不小心把磨石掉进了井里。

不过,汉斯依然很开心,因为他不用再拿任何东西了。

“没有人比我更幸运啦!我是快乐的人!”

With a light heart, Hans ran back home to his mother.

带着轻松的心情,汉斯终于回到了妈妈身边。

The waggoner threw down his whip. He knelt down and prayed to Hercules. “Hercules, help me,please,“ he said.

But Hercules appeared to him, and said, “Man, don't kneel there. Get up and put your shoulder to the wheel.“

大力神出现了,却说:“朋友,用你的肩膀把车轮扛起来,再驱赶马拉车出来。跪在那里祈求我有什么用呢?”

At that time, a fox saw the crow with the meat, so he swallowed and eagerly thought of a plan to get the meat. However, whatever the fox said to the crow, the crow just kept silent. Until the fox thought highly of the crows beautiful voice, the crow felt flattered and opened his mouth to sing. As soon as the meat fell down to the ground, the fox took the meat and went into his hole.

国王的新衣

There was a king who was more interested in clothes than his kingdom.

从前有一位国王,他对漂亮衣服的兴趣胜于一切。

He spent a lot of money and time buying new clothes.

他花了很多的金钱和时间购买新衣。

One day, two young tailors appeared and suggested making the most beautiful clothes for him.

一天,来了两个年轻的裁缝,他们声称能织出世界上漂亮的衣服。

But they told him that the clothes were not visible to fools.

但是这件衣服愚蠢的人看不见。

Over time, the king was very curious about the clothes the tailors made.

过了一段时间,国王好奇裁缝的衣服织得怎么样了。

So he ordered his servants to go and check.

于是他命令两个侍臣去看看。

其中一个侍臣惊讶地发现,什么衣服也看不到。

他不想让自己看起来愚蠢。

So he lied and said that beautiful clothes were being made .

于是他谎称裁缝们正在编织漂亮的衣服。

The other servants lied as well, using the same reason.

另一个侍臣也用同样的说法敷衍了过去

Eventually, the king came to check himself, but he could not see any new clothes.

后,国王决定亲自去看看,但是他也什么都没看见。

He was afraid that the people would think he was a fool.

他害怕人们会认为他是一个愚蠢的国王

于是假装对自己的“新衣服”很满意。

Of course, the tailors were crooks.

显然,这两个裁缝是骗子。

The dressed king, actually naked, went out into the streets.

It is a cold, snowy day.

在一个寒冷的下雪天。

And a little girl is selling matches.

一个小女孩在卖火柴。

“Matches! Buy some matches!”

“卖火柴!买点火柴吧!”

The little match girl sighs, “Nobody buys any matches.”

小女孩叹了一口气:“没有人买火柴。”

Then, a big carriage passes by her.

这时,一辆大马车从她身边驶过。

She is almost hit by the carriage.

她险些被车撞上。

“Oh, my!” screams the match girl.

“哦,天哪!”小女孩尖叫着。

She falls down

She drops all the matches.

火柴全掉了出来。

And her shoes fall off.

鞋子也掉了。

“Watch out!” The driver says and just leaves.

“小心点!”,马车夫大喊了一句,就匆匆离开。

“我们去抢走她的鞋子!”

Boys run away with her shoes.

男孩子们带着她的鞋跑走了。

Now, the match girl has no shoes.

现在,小女孩没有鞋子穿了。

It snows and snows.

雪越下越大。

Her feet are freezing.

She yells, “Matches! Buy some matches!”

她叫卖着,“卖火柴!买些火柴吧!”

But no one buys any matches.
